Hello all! Well my family has made it to January without getting sick and last night broke the bug-free stretch. My oldest son who is 2 1/2 came down with a sudden fever and tummy issues. This morning I was in sanitize mode in an attempt to keep my youngest, less than a year old, as well as hubby and I from catching the brief bug.

Since I tossed my store-bought disinfectant last winter, I was spraying everything with my homemade sanitizer! Which made me realize “I should share”! This stuff is so safe (once dry) that I regularly spray down my kids toys, our remotes, light switches, door handles and about everything in the kid’s room and bathrooms.

The recipe is easy, especially if you already have essential oils and vodka (😉) on hand.

Start with a glass spray bottle. Must be glass if you are using essential oils. I used a spray head that I had on hand from an old cleaning bottle.

Alright here it is, my first posted recipe that is both practical and natural (well close enough with the vodka!). I did consider using witch hazel but I wanted to be sure those germs were dead!

SPRAY SANITIZER/DISINFECTANT

  • 1/2 cup (cheap) Vodka
  • 1/2 cup water (best to use distilled water, I generally just heat it in the microwave for 2 minutes)
  • 15 drops Rosemary essential oil (Don’t have it? Substitute Tea Tree/Melaleuca)
  • 15 drops Lemon essential oil
  • 15 drops Wild Orange essential oil
  • 15 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
  • 15 drops Lavender essential oil

If you don’t have essential oils, email me for some affordable options. I do not sell multi-level marketing essential oil brands 😊.

Just shake bottle before each use!

Happy disinfecting!
